1. Alabama's Kirby Smart to replace Richt as UGA's new football coach

Alabama's defensive coordinator was a UGA letterman from 1995-98 and team captain as a senior. The 39-year-old has worked at Alabama for nine seasons and helped the Crimson Tide win three national championships. Read more.

2. Legendary Atlanta concert promoter Alex Cooley has died

Alex Cooley's legacy began with the Atlanta International Pop Festival in 1969. Cooley helped bring '60s icons Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin and more to the big 1969 festival and even brought Music Midtown to Atlanta. At age 74, he died Tuesday. Read more.

3. More than $500,000 of DeKalb flood disaster relief funding questioned

According to a federal audit, DeKalb County may possibly have to repay up to $505,000 worth of federal disaster relief money provided after major flooding six years ago. County officials say they believe they have an explanation. Read more.

4. Atlanta school board chairman: Students need relationships, not police

In the midst of possibly replacing city police officers in schools with school resource officers directly accountable to the district, Atlanta school board chairman Courtney English said Atlanta schools need "people who can build relationships without having that strict law enforcement component."
