1. Freeman rejoins Braves, will come off DL Wednesday

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman will be reinstated from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday for the series-finale game against the Padres. Freeman has played in only 76 of the Braves' 119 games this season. Read more.

2. Two former East Point officers charged in death of handcuffed man

Former police Cpl. Howard Weems and former Sgt. Marcus Eberhart were indicted Tuesday on charges that they murdered Gregory Lewis Towns Jr. — a 24-year-old father — by using Tasers on him while he was handcuffed. The autopsy showed that the death was caused by "physical exertion and conducted electrical stimulation." Read more.

3. Dragon Con unveils slightly longer parade route

The famous Atlanta spectacle — the annual Dragon Con Parade — has announced a new, longer and more convenient route for the Sept. 5 event. The new route comes closer to the North Avenue MARTA station. Read more.

4. Couple survives attack at West Atlanta home

Michael Lash, his wife Whitney, their 2-year-old son and infant daughter had returned to their Atlanta home from a vacation. Two teens forcefully entered their home and shot Michael in the leg twice after he refused to open the door. Officers arrived within three minutes, but the suspects were gone. Read more.

5. Georgia man wanted in pregnant girlfriend's death caught in Michigan

Donnel Ramonte Rawls of Stockbridge was caught in Michigan Tuesday for the February murder of his pregnant girlfriend. Rawls gave a false name when stopped after a 911 call to authorities about suspicious activity, but was identified with fingerprints. He is awaiting transport back to Georgia by U.S. Marshals.
