2. Thousands of dollars in equipment stolen from Sandy Springs special needs school
The Cumberland Academy of Georgia, which serves hundreds of students with high-functioning autism, Asperger's and "other learning differences" was robbed thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Sandy Springs police estimated the value of stolen items at more than $6,000. As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests have been made. Read more.
3. Dekalb offers incentives worth $12M-plus for new soccer complex
As part of a proposed deal for Atlanta United FC to build a $30 million soccer complex, Dekalb County would spend about $12 million and hand over 41 acres of government land. The complex would include a 3,500-seat stadium, three outdoor practice fields and a two-story corporate headquarters. Read more.
4. Masquerade land sold but does that mean the end of a local favorite venue?
On Monday, it was announced that 3.3 acres of land along the Beltline including the Masquerade was sold to SWH Residential Partners, LLC. However, that doesn't mean it's the end of the charming music venue. Currently booked shows will go on as planned through 2016. Read more.
5. Man shot by Gwinnett police during domestic incident arrested
Steven Gerard McCollum of Covington has been arrested on charges related to an incident earlier this month when he was shot by Gwinnett County police officers after they allegedly threatened his ex-wife and children. Records show that McCollum was charged with three counts of aggravated assault. A Gwinnett County police spokesman confirmed the arrest was connected to the previous incident.
