2. Dead Tennessee theater shooter was armed with hatchet, gun
The suspect involved in the Wednesday shooting at a Nashville-area movie theater died after exchanging gunshots with a SWAT team that stormed the theater, according to police. The unindentified suspect was armed with a gun and a hatchet at the Carmike Hickory 8 theater. Don Aaron, a spokesman for Metro Nashville police, said one person may have suffered a hatchet wound. 5. Shot in the Back: New look at 2011 Union City police shooting death
A Fulton County grand jury convened Wednesday afternoon in the case of Luther Lewis, the white Union City police officer accused of the controversial shooting death of Ariston Waiter — a black teenager — in 2011. District Attorney Paul Howard reopened the shooting death case in May after an investigation by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Channel 2 Action News that raised questions about whether the shooting was justified.
