2. State health care plan could face big shortfall in coming years

600,000 teachers, state employees, retirees and their dependents found out Thursday that the Department of Community Health officials projected that the State Health Benefit Plan will amass a $42 million shortfall in 2016-2017 and a nearly $301 million deficit the following year. Read more.

5. First brick set at SunTrust Park

Cobb County government, sponsors and dignitaries from the Braves gathered for the ceremony Thursday morning. The first of 775,000 bricks was laid by Eutis Morris, 83, who laid the first concrete block at Fulton County Stadium and placed the first and last bricks at Olympic Stadium, which later became Turner Field.
