Q: Several years ago, Fletcher Taylor, the son of former Georgia Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor, was charged with a DUI in a fatal car accident in South Carolina. I never heard anything about the case and would like to know what happened.

—Dale Garner, Flowery Branch

A: Fletcher Taylor pleaded guilty to a felony charge of driving under the influence and was sentenced to three years in jail, five years on probation and fined $15,000 in March 2007.

The judge told Taylor he was to serve one year of the sentence in jail, with the rest suspended, the AJC reported.

Taylor was driving a 2000 Lincoln Navigator at about 80 mph, prosecutors said, when it hit a retaining wall on Interstate 26 in Charleston, S.C., in August 2005.

Taylor’s friend Joseph Victor Gennert was killed in the accident, the AJC reported.

Mark Taylor was Georgia’s lieutenant governor from 1999 to 2007.

Q: For some time, we have noticed fewer CSX trains and shipping container cars on the Atlanta-to-Augusta line. We would like to know the reason for the change?

—Carolyn Bailey, Redan

A: CSX officials say because of reduced volume, it has "rerouted some through traffic traveling to other areas of the network and reduced the speed of remaining trains moving on this line."

The route adjustments allow CSX to meet demand in other areas, a spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email.

“We will also continue serving existing customers and expanding rail service to new customers on this line,” she wrote.
