Q: I was marveling at the Christmas light display at Six Flags. It is unbelievably massive. They must have an army of people putting them up. Can you shed “light” on that?
—Mike O’Neill, Alpharetta
A: Hundreds of Six Flags employees are needed to prepare and display more than 1 million lights for its annual "Holiday in the Park," a spokesman told Q&A on the News in an email.
Six Flags also works with employees from Oak Island Creative, which produces “several of the largest Christmas events in America,” its website states, “to make sure all of the light displays are up and ready for Holiday in the Park each year,” the Six Flags spokesman wrote.
Holiday in the Park is open daily – except for Christmas Eve and Christmas – through Jan. 3.
Q: Having followed the wonderful Clark’s Christmas Kids Gift Drive each Christmas for foster children in Georgia, I wonder how many foster children there are in Georgia. Can you provide any info about the program and the number of children provided for?
—Leon E. Collins, Stone Mountain
A: There were 8,620 children in foster care in Georgia at the end of fiscal year 2014, the state's Division of Family and Children Services reported on its website.
Clark’s Christmas Kids was started in 1991 by Clark Howard, who has become a nationally known consumer advocate and talk show host.
The drive collected enough toys for 5,200 children in foster care last Christmas.
“I was on Cloud Nine,” Howard told the AJC after last year’s drive.
