Q: What happened to Sam Nunn? I keep seeing his daughter, but I’ve never seen him on any of her ads or anything? Is there anything wrong with him?

—Ruth Daniel, College Park

A: Nunn, a former state representative and U.S. senator, is assisting his daughter Michelle Nunn in her senate campaign. Sam Nunn, 76, who was the chairman of the Senate’s Armed Services Committee, and his daughter toured U.S. military bases together last month.

She has said she would like to emulate his bipartisan approach in Congress that helped him work with both parties when he served from 1972 to 1997. “I have a great role model,” she has said. Sam Nunn appeared in a basketball-themed TV ad for his daughter that aired this past spring. She said that even though they both played high school basketball, she didn’t follow him directly into politics. “I think you’ve got a pretty good shot,” Sam Nunn said at the ad’s conclusion.

Q: Why did David Gregory suddenly leave “Meet The Press?”

—Eleanor Hager, Marietta

A: Declining ratings for "Meet the Press" led NBC to replace Gregory with chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd last month. Gregory had been host of the Sunday news show since 2008 and has left the network. Todd has already begun hosting "Meet the Press," which has been on the air since 1947. "The time had come for this to happen," Deborah Turness, president of NBC News, told the New York Times last month. "Meet the Press" ratings have declined the past three years, the paper reported. NBC had extended Gregory's contract in February 2013.
