Q: When attendance figures are published for pro sporting events, many times, two different numbers are given. One set is inside parenthesis. Most of time, the two sets of numbers are different. How are the numbers determined?

—Jim Reed, Marietta

A: When two sets of attendance numbers are published, often the number in the parenthesis is the capacity of the stadium or arena where the game was played. That helps put the attendance in context, showing the amount of fans in attendance or tickets sold compared to the capacity, depending on the league.

Some leagues use the turnstile count – or how many fans actually attended a game – and others measure how many tickets were sold to an event, not how many people attended the game. Also, some teams sell standing-room-only tickets or tickets not counted in the official capacity of a stadium, meaning actual attendance might surpass capacity.

Q: I loved the story about Marc Castillo’s condo in the Homefinder section on Sunday, May 25. I have been looking for the perfect lights to hang over my bar in my cozy and contemporary condo. Is it possible to tell me where to get the lights and how much they are?

—Linda Frank, Dunwoody

A: The lights over the island in Castillo's condo in The Residences at W Atlanta - Downtown are the Parker Pendant Lamp by Jonathan Adler. The retail price is $325 per lamp, according to JonathanAdler.com. The lights come in nickel and bronze.
