Q: Chipper Jones, who is retiring from the Braves, has been honored at many of the ballparks. Did the New York Mets honor him, and if so, what was his gift? — Greg B. Gates, Atlanta

A: New York Mets Chief Operating Officer Jeff Wilpon presented Jones with a framed piece of 3D pop art by artist Charles Fazzino before the Braves' game at New York on Sept. 7. It features Shea Stadium, the Mets' former stadium, and measures 48 x 40 inches. Jones named one of his sons Shea in honor of the stadium where he had so much success against the Mets. "I was honored to be asked by the Mets to create their retirement gift for Chipper Jones. I hope Chipper enjoys the artwork as much as I enjoyed creating it," Fazzino stated on his website (www.fazzino.com), which pictures Jones' gift. Jones has 49 home runs — 19 at Shea Stadium — and 159 RBIs in 242 career games against the Mets. Jones' final homestand with the Braves begins Sept. 25 with the first of a three-game series against the Miami Marlins. The Braves finish the home portion of their schedule with three more games against the Mets, beginning Sept. 28.
