Q: Regarding the recent dockless mobility device scooter regulation, there are a few public safety concerns. Our Inman Park neighborhood has been inundated with scooters whose riders totally ignore these laws. The Department of Public Works has the primary authority and and responsibility for enforcement of the scooter regulations. How does the public relay safety concerns and violations they encounter to the city?
HENRY GRIFFITH, ATLANTA
A: Residents are encouraged to voice their concerns to the Atlanta Police Department's local zone commanders, an APD spokesman told Q&A on the News.
Inman Park is in Zone 6, he said. The number is 404-546-5700 and the website is atlantapd.org/community/apd-zones/zone-6.
Residents also can attend their designated Neighborhood Planning Unit (NPU) meetings, where city officials are available to discuss issues and concerns. The meeting schedule can be found at atlantaga.gov.
The Department of Public Works “will enforce appropriate parking of all devices” and is responsible for removing scooters, according to atlantaga.gov.
Q: When I see male prisoners on the news or in the paper, their facial hair is usually well groomed. Surely they are not allowed razors in confinement. Even electric razors have sharp blades. How do male prisoners groom their facial hair on a day-to-day basis?
JENNY GALOSKI, HIRAM
A: "Offenders have access to barber services inside our facilities, and they also have access to purchase disposable razors or electric razors within our non-mental health facilities," a Georgia Department of Corrections spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email.
