Q: I would like to know what happened to — I believe he was an officer — the young man who was involved in the car wreck that hit a wall and killed a person. I believe his father was the assistant police chief.

—Dick Rankine, Lawrenceville

A: The case involving Atlanta Police Officer Shawn Jones Jr. is still being investigated, a spokesman with the Fulton County District Attorney's office told Q&A on the News in an email.

Jones, who was off duty, was injured and passenger Ramish Attai was killed when a white Dodge Challenger he was driving hit a building in Midtown, the AJC reported in September 2016.

Jones is on the department’s inactive list, an Atlanta Police Department spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email.

His father, Assistant Chief Shawn Jones Sr., retired last month, she wrote.

Q: I was wondering where reporter Jaye Watson, who was on Channel 11, went?

—Alexis Weisman, Atlanta

A: Watson left 11Alive earlier this month to join Emory's Brain Health Center as the director of brand awareness, the AJC reported.

She was with 11Alive for 18 years.

“I’m stepping back — but not entirely away — from this wonderful, insane, beloved career,” she told the AJC in an email this month. “It ranks as one of the most difficult decisions of my life.”
