In her 12 years as Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Beverly Hall racked up awards and praise as she oversaw big gains in standardized test scores. She chaired an advisory board at Harvard University and was toasted by a U.S. Education Secretary.
But four years after Hall was named Superintendent of the Year, she and 34 others were indicted in connection with a massive standardized cheating scandal that has engulfed the district. On Sunday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will look at how Hall and her tight circle of deputies operated.
