A high-dollar electric car crashed into a Buckhead boutique Thursday morning.

Trayce Carr — the owner of Vintage, a home store on East Andrews Drive — said a Tesla plowed through the front of her business around 9:40 a.m. It was about 20 minutes before opening, so Carr’s employee hadn’t arrived and no one was hurt.

The damage, however, was significant. Broken glass, shards of imported Italian pottery and other furniture-related carnage still littered the floor Thursday afternoon.

“Behind that wall was a very heavy chest, then a heavy sofa, another heavy chest and another sofa,” Carr said. “That amount is all compacted back there.”

Carr said authorities believe that the driver of the Tesla, an all-electric vehicle with a price tag that can reach six figures, was attempting to park and visit the alterations store next door. For some reason, he accelerated instead.

“Fortunately, there was nobody walking on the sidewalk, there was nobody in here,” Jack Floyd, the building’s owner said. “That’s the good news.”

There was no immediate word from Atlanta police on whether charges would be filed.
