One person was injured early Friday in a terrorist attack at a Colombian air force base.
The Colombian Air Force confirmed there was an attack at the Casanare Air Group in Yopal. The attack happened about 2:20 a.m., local time, on Friday.
Officials said an IED exploded inside a vehicle at the base, injuring a noncommissioned officer. That officer is reported to be stable with no serious injuries.
“I cannot venture to say at this moment to which group we attribute this terrorist attack, but we know this is an area where ELN-related groups commit crimes,” said Gen. Ramses Rueda.
The ELN is the National Liberation Army (ELN), a group that has been at war with the government since the mid-1960s, according to Colombia Reports.
Officials are still estimating the damages resulting from the attack.
Colombian President Ivan Duque said Friday morning all indications are the “cowardly attack” was carried out by ELN guerrillas.
“Our response will be blunt,” Duque said on Twitter.
