The roof, the roof, the roof was on fire! And so was the rest of a vacant house in Buford on Sunday after two teenage boys accidently set it ablaze while exploring what they hoped to make their clubhouse. Nobody was hurt in the fire.

The boys had constructed a makeshift torch in order to see in the dark, but burning material from the torch dropped on the floor and ignited a small fire. After the two thought they had stompled out the flames, they continued exploring.

While in the basement of the house on the 5300 block of Nelson Brogdon Boulevard, the boys heard noise coming from upstairs and discovered the fire growing on the first floor. They were able to escape from the basement unharmed.

The home was destroyed, officials said.

Each teenager is being charged with one count of criminal damage to property in the second degree. Authorities have determined that there was no malicious intent to cause the fire or to damage the property.

The boys were released to a parent/gaurdian and are being referred to the juvenile court system.
