A teenager is in critical condition after being rescued from a burning home in DeKalb County Monday morning.

The fire broke out before 8 a.m. at a home on Bluebird Lane, in a neighborhood off Columbia Drive.

Neighbor Eddie Hamilton told Channel 2 Action News he broke a window and pulled a 2-year-old boy and 10-year-old girl out the window, then went into the home to rescue a 17-year-old boy.

“Smoke was all the way down to the floor,” Hamilton told Channel 2. “You couldn’t see anything. You couldn’t breathe inside.”

By the time Hamilton pulled the teen to the window, firefighters had arrived and got the injured teen outside the burning home.

The teen was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition. The younger children suffered minor injuries, according to Channel 2.

The names of the children have not been released.
