Swift water rescue teams from two different counties searched for a possible distress kayaker Friday night, but no one was located.

A witness reported that someone in the river may have attempted to exit at Jones Bridge Park, but was unable to, Capt. Tommy Rutledge with the Gwinnett County fire department said. Team from Gwinnett, Roswell and Johns Creek fire departments were dispatched to the Chattahoochee River to check at different points.

But firefighters were unable to locate anyone, Rutledge said.

“This appears to be a good intent call by witnesses who were concerned about the kayaker,” Rutledge said in an emailed statement. “There has been no indication of anyone in distress on the river and no reports of a kayaker missing.”
