An unidentified man is wanted in Decatur after police said he robbed someone at gunpoint, hopped into a waiting car and drove off.

The incident happened just after 10 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of North McDonough Street, Decatur police said in a news release.

The victim and two of his friends were crossing West Trinity Place when the suspect called out to them, police said. The suspect walked up to the victim, pulled out a gun and said “give me everything,” according to the statement.

The victim handed over his wallet and phone. The suspect then got into a running, dark-colored Honda Civic, and he and the driver sped off, police said.

An officer on patrol saw the car make an improper turn and tried to pull it over, but the driver continued down Commerce Parkway. Police later determined that the person in the car was the armed robbery suspect.

Investigators describe the suspect as a man in his late teens or early 20s. He is about 5-foot-7 and between 130 and 150 pounds, according to investigators. He was last seen wearing an orange hoodie and orange sweatpants.

The Honda had the temporary Texas tag number 89599K3, but the tag registration does not match the car, police said. The driver was last seen wearing a white hoodie.
