One person was flown to an Atlanta hospital Wednesday afternoon after being shot in Griffin, according to authorities.

Spalding County deputies responded to a report of a person shot about 2:45 p.m. in the 800 block of East McIntosh Road, according to a Twitter post from the sheriff’s office.

After deputies located the person and rendered aid, the victim was flown to an Atlanta trauma center, Maj. Dwayne Jones said in an emailed statement to AJC.com. He confirmed that the victim was conscious.

A suspect was arrested, Jones said. Authorities have not released the names of the victim or suspect.

Officers are still in the area interviewing witnesses, Jones said, adding that they do not know the motive behind the shooting at this time.
