The 21-year-old man accused of killing a man and wounding a woman and a child in a Duluth home invasion was arrested Thursday night after a standoff with deputies.

Devon Antonio Jenkins, 21, barricaded himself upstairs in a Lawrenceville home with a woman and four children, according to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies convinced Jenkins to release the woman and children before he surrendered peacefully to SWAT team members.

Jenkins, of Lawrenceville, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery in connection with the Aug. 6 home invasion. He’s believed to have been the trigger-man, according to Duluth police.

Jenkins and other men allegedly kicked in the back door of the house around 6 a.m and killed Adam Schrier with a .22-caliber pistol while wounding Jami Smith in the leg and shoulder and Madison Schrier in the arm, his arrest warrant states. .

The motive was to rob the 37-year-old Schrier of a bag of illegal drugs, the warrant said.

Jenkins was being held without bond late Thursday at the Gwinnett County jail.
