If you want to avoid interstate construction traffic this weekend, stay off I-285.

“Several projects at multiple locations are likely to result in considerable congestion and possibly lengthy delays,” warned Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Natalie Dale. “With a favorable weather forecast throughout the weekend, GDOT crews and contractors expect to make significant progress on several I-285 construction and repair projects.”

Here’s what you need to know to avoid the jams:

Perimeter woes: Two northbound lanes of I-285 will be shut down between South Atlanta and Paces Ferry roads, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday.

Not far from there, two northbound and one southbound lane of I-285 will be closed all weekend between I-75 and Northside Drive.

On the southwest quadrant of the Perimeter, two southbound lanes between Washington Road and Old National Highway will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Other weekend construction zones: The ongoing project to resurface I-20 east of Atlanta will shut down two eastbound lanes of the interstate near U.S. 278 in Newton County throughout the weekend. The eastbound exit and entrance ramps at U.S. 278 will also be closed.

On I-75 in Fulton County, two northbound lanes between Howell Mill and Moores Mill roads will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. Check in with the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center for updates all weekend.

Sunny weekend forecast: The weekend will be sunny and warm, with only a slight chance of rain late in the day on Sunday, according to Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton.

Minton said highs will be in the upper 80s Friday and around 90 degrees Saturday and Sunday, with lows in the upper 60s. Check the full weekend weather report and track changes.

Baseball, barbecue and butterflies highlight weekend events: The Braves play a weekend series against the Athletics at Turner Field. Games start at 7:35 p.m. Friday, 7:10 p.m. Saturday and 8:05 p.m. Sunday.
