If you’re into sunny skies and warm spring weather, Sunday is your day.

After a cloudy start to the weekend, metro Atlanta is in store for a rain-free afternoon with a high in the low 70s, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

The pleasant weather will set the tone for the next several days as showers aren’t expected to return to North Georgia until later in the week.

“It will be warmer on Sunday as we climb to a high of 71 degrees,” Deon said. “We’ll see a lot more in the way of sunshine. ... Not a bad day if you’re looking to head outside.”

There’s not much of a chance of rain expected through at least Wednesday, according to the latest forecast. Temperatures should reach the mid-70s on both Monday and Tuesday before a slight cooldown by midweek.

“The next couple of days really look nice,” Deon said. “In fact, we’re going to see a stretch of dry weather over the next few days and our temperatures are going to stay warm.”

As for traffic, the Georgia Department of Transportation has several construction projects underway that could lead to delays on metro Atlanta roads. Drivers should expect the usual lane closures and traffic pacing near the Ga. 400/ I-285 interchange this weekend as construction continues there.

Drivers may also run into delays downtown on Sunday as the Atlanta Hawks host the Indiana Pacers for an afternoon game at State Farm Arena. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
