Sunday’s weather should come as a welcome reprieve following a string of chilly days across North Georgia.
The second half of the weekend is expected to be rain-free and relatively warm, with sunny skies and an afternoon high in the mid-50s, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.
“It’s going to be nice and comfortable for those of you looking to get out for a nice long walk or a jog around the park,” Deon said. “Really nice conditions for you to take advantage of. ... The entire weekend looks fantastic.”
The day should get off to a chilly start ahead of the afternoon warmup, so those with early outdoor plans may want to bring a light jacket.
The morning low will be about 32 degrees before warming to a high of 56 by mid-afternoon. Sunday is also expected to be slightly breezy, with windspeeds of up to 15 mph, according to the latest forecast.

Enjoy the dry weather while you can because rain will likely return to metro Atlanta overnight and early Monday, Deon said. The workweek is expected to start off with a 60% chance of showers for the first half of the day.
It should be much nicer by midweek, however, as Atlanta gets in on some “springlike warmth,” Deon said. Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunny and dry with highs of at least 60 degrees on both days.

Several blocks of Midtown could remain closed through the weekend as crews continue efforts to dismantle a large crane teetering outside a 31-story office tower. Police and firefighters blocked off the area around West Peachtree and 13th streets on Friday morning after a construction mishap caused the crane to lean.
Heavy machinery was brought in from other states and assembled at the construction site on Saturday, but it’s unclear how long it may take to secure the crane and dismantle it.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area by taking Peachtree Street, Piedmont Road or the Downtown Connector as work continues.
