Atlantans woke up Sunday to slightly balmier temps and much clearer skies than they’ve enjoyed in recent days.
Parts of metro Atlanta began the weekend under the specter of black ice and light snow flurries returning. But a winter weather advisory for North Georgia that included portions of DeKalb and Gwinnett counties, was canceled early Saturday morning by the National Weather Service.
Frosty temperatures remained, but the clouds dissipated and made way for more sunshine by Saturday afternoon.
According to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon, those sunny conditions will carry forward through the day Sunday.
The overnight low is expected to dip to 26 degrees; but the daytime high will reach 49 and there’s no chance of rain forecast.

“We’ll recover some on Sunday,” Deon said. “We are expecting to see more in the way of sunshine. But then clouds roll in on Monday.”
Temperatures continue to warm up Monday, when highs are expected to reach 54 degrees. But they will cool off to the mid-40s Tuesday, when there is a 40% chance of showers.
Over the weekend, I-285 and Ga. 400 will see a few closures as part of the Georgia Department of Transportation Transform 285/400 project. A full ramp closure on Roswell Road to I-285 eastbound will be in place and four right lanes from Roswell to Glenridge Drive will be closed as crews work overnight on a beam affecting Fulton County.
On Ga. 400, a ramp onto Abernathy Road and two lanes going northbound at Mount Vernon Highway will be closed for crews working overnight on a bridge. Several other areas will be shut down, but work will be limited to the overnight hours.
