The cooler weather metro Atlantans experienced Saturday is expected to continue into Sunday, minus the scattered showers and high wind.
Though Sunday is expected to be sunnier, the day will remain cool, starting off in the high 40s and only reaching the high 60s by the afternoon, said Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Jennifer Lopez.
The Atlanta Braves will host the Los Angeles Dodgers at Truist Park for the second game of the National League Championship Series, so expect traffic volume to increase around the junction of I-285 and I-75 well ahead of the 7:37 p.m. first pitch Sunday. The temperature should still be in the 60s as game time approaches but will cool down as the game and night go on.
More sunny and cool weather is expected through the workweek, though it should warm to the mid-70s by Wednesday.

“As we look ahead to the next several days, we’ll be back up to the 70s, but again, some cooler weather is behind this cold front that’s moving through right now,” Lopez said.
Roadwork around the metro area will remain relatively slow Sunday, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. In South Cobb County, a double-lane closure on I-20 that began Saturday night for restriping work will continue between Fulton and Douglas Counties all day Sunday into early Monday morning. A single-lane closure to resurface State Route 360 will run from Sandtown Road to MacLand Road and from New Macland Road to Windy Hill Road Sunday evening until early Monday.
Clayton County will see lane closures around the junction of I-75 and I-285 as construction continues on a new collector-distributor lane. In DeKalb County, ongoing lane closures will continue on I-85 from Clairmont Road down to 17th Street until early Monday for safety improvements. Lane closures will also continue on I-285 for restriping purposes.
Sunday roadwork in Fulton County will mainly continue from Friday or Saturday and will stretch across the day until Monday. Lane closures that began on I-75 Saturday evening around 17th Street, Northside Drive, and Howell Mill Road due to bridge preservation work will continue all day Sunday into early Monday morning. Piedmont Road will also see lane closures from Morosgo Drive to Alpine Road for Atlanta Gas Light work through Sunday until Monday evening.
