People can receive free oral, head and neck cancer screenings from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Hope Center at the Cartersville Medical Center.

The screenings will be held in suite 201 located at 100 Market Place Blvd.

Oral, head and neck cancers claim approximately 12,000 lives annually. If caught early, however, these cancers are easily treated and the chances of survival increases.

Doctors will conduct a 10-minute test to determine the risk or presence of the cancers.

Warning signs include: red or white patches in the mouth that lasts more than two weeks, a lump in the neck and ear pain.

To register for a free screening call MedLine at 1-800-242-5662.
