DeKalb Sheriff Jeff Mann announced Friday the arrest of nearly another 30 fugitives in his week-long roundup.

That brings the captured number to 225 as of late Friday, or just over six percent of the office’s list of 3,500 targeted warrants for fugitives and misdemeanor and probation violators from 2014. “This has been a massive and highly-effective law enforcement push for improved public safety in DeKalb County,” Mann said.

Mann noted that his office had apprehended 54 of 75 people wanted on murder charges before his office began planning for the roundup in conjunction with the federal marshal service and local police. The office arrested 14 more people wanted for murder since November, he said, including some who had been on the lam for at least 13 months.

As of Thursday, at least 64 of the people who had been tracked down were wanted on misdemeanors.
