March 4, 2014

Gov. Nathan Deal's office on Tuesday released the first full report on lessons learned following the winter storm in January that locked down metro Atlanta. Read it here.

The report is an internal look at what went wrong, and suggestions for future improvements. They include items reported before by the AJC, such as a suggestion that the state invest in new supplies and weather detection equipment, as well as new suggestions for laws regarding trucks and emergency weather equipment.

There will also be a report later, from a collection of state, business and local officials. The governor’s office is leading a task force to brainstorm more recommendations, and its second meeting is Tuesday afternoon.
