A Gwinnett County teen was booked on a murder charge Wednesday night in connection to the stabbing death of his father.

David Trent Walker, 19, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon shortly after officers found him standing over his injured father, 46-year-old David Walker, in the road outside their home in a neighborhood in unincorporated Hoschton, Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.

Officers responded to a report of an assault in the 1600 block of Country Wood Drive shortly before 2:30 p.m. Emergency personnel transported the wounded man by ambulance, but he died a short time later.

Smith earlier Wednesday said investigators had not yet determined a motive for the attack.

David Trent Walker was booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center on one charge of murder.
