Solange announces split from her husband after 5 years
Solange and her husband Alan Ferguson, a music video director, are parting ways, she announced Friday on Instagram.
Solange and Ferguson wed in November 2014 in New Orleans, with her big sister Beyoncé, her mother Tina Knowles, Janelle Monae and a host of other celebrity friends in attendance.
Solange shared the news of the split via her Saint Records Instagram account. In a message to her more than 4 million fans, she said she split from Ferguson earlier this year. She also spoke of a “spiritual transition” she has experienced during the last two years.
"11 years ago i met a phenomenal man who changed every existence of my life,” the post reads. “early this year we separated and parted ways," she wrote. "i find it necessary to protect the sacredness of my personal truth and to live in it fully just as I have before and will continue to do. it is unfair to not have power of your own story as you shape and mold and rewrite it yourself.”
Knowles and Ferguson, 56, do not have children together. The “Cranes in the Sky” singer has one son, 15-year-old Daniel, from a previous marriage.
