Ronta Weaver with SkyView Atlanta sprays the structure down before assembly. The 200 foot observation wheel was taking shape Tuesday, July 9, 2013 across the street from Centennial Olympic Park next to the Tabernacle where SkyView, General Manager, Michael Montgomery says the assembly of the SkyView Ferris wheel and its 42-climate controlled gondolas should be up and operational by the weekend or first of next week. By the time it is said and done - 30-tractor trailer full of materials will have been delivered for the project. The Ferris wheel is designed and constructed by Ronald Bussink from Munich, Germany. There are 1200 pins and clips to inspect during a three hour safety and maintenance inspection before opening every day. The V.I.P. gondola has a leather interior, a glass bottom and glass chillers on the console. A flight, or four revolutions takes about 15-minutes. Up to 6-adults may fit in a gondola. Tickets to fly are $13.50 for adults and $ 8.50 for children. JOHN SPINK/JSPINK@AJC.COM
