3 shot near Clayton County gas station
— Staff writers Alexis Stevens and Mike Morris contributed to this report.
One person was killed and two others injured in a triple shooting Monday night in Clayton County, police said.
The shootings happened shortly after 8 p.m. behind the Texaco on Ga. 42 in Rex, according to Sgt. Kevin Hughes with Clayton County police said. Officers were dispatched following a 911 call reporting shots fired, Hughes said.
The three victims were shot in a wooded area behind the gas station, Hughes said. A trail through the woods leads to a nearby mobile home park, he said.
Keith Andre Davis of Rex was seriously injured and airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center, and a second victim, Shelon Derrell Thomas of Atlanta, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center by ambulance, Hughes said.
The third victim, a man whose name was being withheld Tuesday until relatives could be notified, died at the scene.
Raj Palakurthy, an employee at the Texaco, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution he heard gunshots and called police. He said it’s possible the victims have been customers at the store.
Hughes asked that anyone with information on the shooting contact investigators at 678-610-4711.
