Drivers were stuck on I-285 North for hours overnight after another interstate shooting near the Church Street exit.

Drivers were stuck on I-285 for nearly three hours early Thursday morning while DeKalb County police investigated a shooting on the interstate.

One person was taken to a hospital in critical condition after being shot near the Church Street exit, according to police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent.

All northbound lanes were blocked from about 12:30 a.m. until 3 a.m., when investigators cleared the scene. Drivers experienced severe delays even after the lanes reopened, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported.

No details about the shooting have been released. At least 26 shootings have taken place on Atlanta-area roads this year, killing seven people and injuring others.

The latest shooting victim remained in critical condition Thursday, according to Vincent.
