Police went to a northwest Atlanta home searching for a wanted suspect. Instead, they found more than a dozen pounds of marijuana, thousands of dollars in cash and stolen guns.
Police arrested 24-year-old Tyrone Scott, a felon, on a slew of drug trafficking charges in connection with the search.
Officers made the discovery while looking for a suspect Wednesday at a home in the 500 block of Cedar Avenue, the police department said in a statement. No details were released about the initial investigation.
The suspect police were looking for wasn’t at the home, officials said. However, investigators at the scene saw a “large amount of marijuana” inside the house, the department said.
While executing a search warrant on the home, police found 15 pounds of marijuana and 19 pounds of THC-infused edibles, officials said. Officers also found 91 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of MDMA, 11 Dankwoods pre-rolled marijuana blunts and $6,763 in cash.
The search also yielded seven guns, three of which had been reported stolen, officials said.
Scott, who was inside the home, was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, trafficking cocaine, possession of MDMA with the intent to distribute, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was booked into the Fulton County Jail, where he remains.
