The search is on for the person who broke into a privately-owned student apartment building and shot a Georgia State University student.
The shooting happened about 5 p.m. Tuesday at the One12 Courtland Apartments, about three blocks from Georgia State, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The 20-year-old student, who was shot in the arm while visiting a resident of the complex, went door-to-door begging for help, the television station reported.
He was alert and conscious as he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer Stephanie Brown told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
His condition was not known early Wednesday.
The shooting is the latest crime on or near the downtown Atlanta campus.

Residents at One12 said they don’t understand how the shooting happened because the complex, which is in the 100 block of Courtland Street, has 24-hour security.
“You wonder what caused it and what’s going to be done about it,” resident Malcom Canidate told Channel 2.
In a statement, property owner Rise Residential said its “first priority is to make sure our residents are safe.
“We are working closely with investigations and have turned over any evidence and information that may be useful to them in solving this case.”
