Scattered storms, some possibly severe, in the forecast
Scattered thunderstorms, some of them strong, are forecast for later tonight, and a better chance of storms is in the outlook for Friday.
Storm chances rise: Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said the chance of rain is 40 percent this evening, climbing to 50 percent Friday. There could be scattered storms.
Some storms could be severe: The National Weather Service said strong storms with gusty winds are possible for portions of north and central Georgia, generally through 10 tonight.
“A few of these storms could become severe, with damaging wind and quarter-size hail,” the Weather Service said in a statement. “In addition, frequent lightning will be possible.”
Risk of storms lingers into weekend: Burns put the chance of rain and thunderstorms at 50 percent Saturday and 40 percent Sunday.
Temps: Afternoon highs will be 86 Friday, 90 Saturday and 83 Sunday, Burns predicted. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to 70. Check the full forecast and track changes.
