Get ready for a weekend of sunshine, clear skies and afternoon temperatures in the mid-70s and 80s.

The spate of unseasonable warmth will continue to prevail over North Georgia on Saturday and is expected to remain through early next week.

Metro Atlantans will wake up to morning temperatures of about 51 degrees, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Jennifer Lopez.

Conditions should warm up to a mid-afternoon high of 75 degrees by 4 p.m., with zero chance of rain.

“Looking ahead to your Saturday afternoon, make plans to do something outdoors,” Lopez said. “It’s going to be gorgeous.”

The good weather only improves as we progress through the weekend, Lopez forecasts. The metro area is expected to see highs reach the 80s on Sunday, again with no chance of rain.

“As we head to the rest of the weekend, that dry weather continues and the warm weather as well,” Lopez said.

With sunny days ahead, the roads are all but certain to be jam packed with more people out trying to enjoy the picturesque conditions.

Some delays will be caused by construction efforts in the area. Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will continue a road widening project on a six-mile stretch of Powder Springs Road in Cobb and Paulding counties.

All three southbound lanes of Ga. 400 will shift between Abernathy Road and Hammond Drive as part of a new alignment on the state highway.

Lane closures in Fulton County will accommodate production crews. A southbound lane of Ralph Abernathy Boulevard between Peeples Street and Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard will be closed most of Saturday for filming of a season five episode of the television series “The Resident.”

On Sunday, filming of the TV series “Kandi and the Gang” will force lane closures in downtown Atlanta along Peters Street. A southbound parking lane will be closed all day beginning at 6 a.m. between Haynes and Magnum streets, near the Old Lady Gang Southern Cuisine restaurant.
