North Georgia can expect some much-needed rain in the coming days, but the heat wave and dry conditions will likely continue Saturday.
Metro Atlanta could see isolated showers in small pockets of the city. There’s just a 20% chance of showers for the day, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brad Nitz.
“Warm start to another hot day — upper 80s to low 90s,” Nitz said. “I expect we’ll hit 90 degrees for a high on Saturday. That’s 8 degrees above average this time of year.”
The morning low will be 70 degrees, with a mostly sunny start to what could be a partly cloudy day.
Nitz predicts the temperature will rise to 90 degrees by 4 p.m. for intown Atlanta.

Nitz didn’t rule out the possibility of stray storms through the evening dusk. But he anticipates the rain will dry up overnight.
“As we start to heat up toward 90 degrees, just a very isolated shower or thunderstorm could pop up,” Nitz said. “It could be a localized downpour, but even that will be few and far between. Won’t last for long.”
The probability of more sustained showers drastically increases Sunday when the chances of rain will be 70%. Storms should be on the horizon through the early part of next week.
