Patrick Wayne Tyson, the 24-year-old Sandy Springs man charged with murdering his mother, was denied bond in his first court appearance Tuesday, the Fulton County sheriff’s office said.
Tyson was charged with malice murder, aggravated assault with intent to commit murder, and possession of a knife in the commission of a felony.
His next court date is March 3.
Cathleen Tyson, 57, was stabbed in the face and suffered blunt force trauma to the head at a home on Spalding Forrest Court, police said.
Tyson told officers that he had returned home from jogging Monday morning and found his mother bleeding on the floor. He allegedly told police that two men were in the house and fled, but police said they determined there were inconsistencies in his story.
Police said detectives found a knife used in the killing while searching the home.
