UPDATE: The Chevrolet Camaro in Sandy Springs early Wednesday was recovered in the 4000 block of Roswell Road Wednesday afternoon. The woman shot in the carjacking, Monique N. Lassiter, is expected to recover fully following surgery Wednesday.
ORIGINAL REPORT: A Sandy Springs woman was shot early Wednesday during an overnight carjacking in a gated Roswell Road apartment community, police said.
The incident happened just after midnight in the 6900 block of Roswell Road, Sandy Springs police said in an email.
Monique N. Lassiter, 27, was taken to North Fulton Hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach, and is in stable condition, according to police.
The stolen vehicle was a yellow 2012 Chevrolet Camaro with black stripes and black wheels, with Georgia license plate PCX4436.
