Manhunt continues in Virginia for AWOL marine wanted for murder
Police throughout Virginia continued their manhunt for an AWOL marine who is wanted for murder, a search that prompted all Roanoke, Virginia, schools to abruptly close early Thursday morning.
Michael Brown, 22, was believed to be near Patrick Henry High School, according to WRIC. Brown is wanted in the murder of Rodney Brown, his mother's boyfriend, according to police.
The Roanoke city school system said police requested schools be closed while they searched for Brown.
At the request of Roanoke Police, all schools will be closed today (11/14/19) because of a serious concern near Patrick Henry H.S. Police are asking everyone who lives within 1/2 mile radius of the 2100 block of Grandin Road SW to shelter in place until further notice pic.twitter.com/OAhEH3G5YG

Brown is a combat engineer who deserted his Camp Lejeune post last month and was later spotted in Franklin County, where Roanoke is located. Brown has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Rodney Brown.
