When a large dog wandered into a Lilburn CVS Pharmacy, his ears were missing and his head was burned.

Now, officials want to know how it happened.

That’s why Crime Stoppers announced a $2,000 reward Wednesday for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case.

The 7-year-old mixed breed is at the county animal shelter, where he has been since authorities picked him up Thursday from the CVS, said Cpl. Jake Smith with Gwinnett County Police Department.

“For the time being, this dog will only be available to rescue organizations,” he said in an emailed statement. “Any organization that is interested can call 770-339-3200. A forensic veterinarian will examine the dog tomorrow, at which point he will be available for rescue.”

Anyone with information about how the dog was injured is asked to call Animal Control Officer Joey Brooks at 770-339-3200. To remain anonymous, tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 404-557-TIPS (8477) or visit www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.
