More than six years later, investigators are still working to solve the case. The reward for information has now increased to $15,000 from its original $2,000 total in hopes of generating new leads.

Barkley was 19 when the shooting occurred inside a home on Richmond Avenue, where he was visiting his father. Marcus Gay, 43, and Ricky Whitlock, 51, were also killed.

Atlanta police released sketches of the two men wanted in the murder in 2015, but no leads were found.

Channel 2 Action News met recently with Joshua’s mother and sister, Lisa and Kenyatta Barkley, after the family added $9,500 to the Crime Stoppers reward. The other $3,500 was added by the organization.

They are hoping the increase will incentivize someone to submit a tip.

“People don’t want to talk unless it’s a reward behind it. Unless they get some sort of incentive. So I think us putting more money with the Crime Stoppers will definitely help,” Kenyatta told Channel 2.

Anyone with information on the murder is asked to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS. Anonymous tips are accepted.
