A Rome Middle School teacher accused of influencing three students to help her take and destroy another child’s cell phone after he used it to record her allegedly putting a student in a headlock was arrested.

The Rome News-Tribune reported Wednesday that Kasey Christian Green, 32, of Euharlee, turned herself in at the Floyd County Jail early Tuesday, and was charged with three felony counts of second-degree cruelty to children, a felony count of criminal damage to property, three misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, one misdemeanor count of being a party to the crime of theft by taking and one misdemeanor count disruption of a public school.

The charges stem from a Feb. 20 incident in which Green allegedly put a child in a headlock, then conspired to destroy a boy’s cell phone when he used it to take video of the incident.

Rome police Det. Stephanie Hill-Hudson told the News-Tribune that Green had allegedly grappled with the owner of the cell phone in November, and the boy’s parents told him to try to record it if it happened again.

Police said Green then conspired with three other students to take the boy’s phone, and told those students to lie to school officials if asked about the incident.

Green was released from jail on $6,500 bond.
