Residents of a Henry County neighborhood are being asked to watch out for rabid animals after a dead raccoon was found to have the disease.

It’s the ninth rabies case in Henry County this year.

Channel 2 Action News reported the rabies alert and 31-day quarantine will begin Monday in the Crown Springs subdivision, a densely populated neighborhood near the intersection of Elliott Road and East Lake Road. Residents will be asked to immediately get their pets re-vaccinated for rabies. They'll also be asked to keep a close eye on their pets and any wildlife that may be acting strangely.

“It’s very alarming to me be because on average we get four to five cases a year, and this is the ninth,” Henry County Rabies Control Officer Vince Farah told Channel 2.

Several previous incidents also involved raccoons, officials said.
