Chattanooga police are in search of a suspect after two people were shot Tuesday near a Chattanooga Walmart, and officials now have a description of the suspect and his vehicle.

One of the confirmed shooting victims reportedly has life-threatening injuries, according to a report by WCRB in Chattanooga.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Walmart Supercenter on Greenway View Drive in Chattanooga, which is about 100 miles outside of Atlanta. Police responded to the report of multiple gunshots, and upon arrival found the two victims, Chattanooga Police Department Sgt. Victor Miller told the media Tuesday afternoon.

“We have the suspect that fled in a vehicle,” Miller said. “We do not believe there’s a threat to the public. It appears that this was a targeted incident towards an individual or a group of individuals.”

In 2016, another shooting occurred near the Eastgate Walmart that sparked after a fight between individuals living in the homeless community.

Police have described the suspect as a black male, who could be driving a silver or grey Buick sedan, according to the NW Georgia Scanner Twitter account. The suspect reportedly has a short barrel file and his heavily armed.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the shooting incident is asked to call the Chattnooga Police Department at  (423) 698-2525.
