A man waiting in line at a drive-thru at a DeKalb County fast food restaurant turned the tables on a group of armed robbers Sunday night, Channel 2 Action News reports.

DeKalb police told the station that the intended victim was placing an order at the Sonic on Flat Shoals Parkway when the group of men approached him, demanding money. Little did they know he was armed.

“The victim had his own handgun (and) was able to shoot the suspect, who fell to the ground,” DeKalb police Lt. Mark Lavigne said. “The other two or three suspects fled from the scene.”

The unidentified suspect was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, police said. Two of his alleged accomplices were arrested while a fourth suspect remains at large.
