A woman left her 11-month-old daughter in a hot car for about an hour Wednesday while she and her other children shopped for school supplies at Walmart, Cumming police said.
According to Channel 2 Action News, someone spotted the child alone in the car and called 911. When paramedics got to the Market Place Boulevard store, the child’s mother, 26-year-old Amber Sue Adams, approached the car, the television station reported.
She said she had forgotten about the child because her mother put the girl in a rear-facing car seat, according to Channel 2. Adams was arrested and charged with cruelty to children and reckless conduct, Channel 2 reported.
The child, who was drenched in sweat when authorities arrived, was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite for evaluation, according to the Forsyth News. She was released that night and was in good health, the newspaper reported.
A grandmother picked up the other children from the store, according to the newspaper.
