Roswell police are investigating a report of a rape that allegedly occurred early Tuesday morning.

According to police spokeswoman Officer Lisa Holland, authorities responded to the rape call around 6:15 a.m. A 56-year-old woman told police that she was walking southbound on Warsaw Road when a man grabbed her from behind and forced her into the woods behind 900 Holcomb Bridge Road. She also said the man threatened her with a gun.

The man fled on foot before the woman could see her attacker’s face. Police said she could provide only a vague description of the man.

Police are asking anyone who might have information that could help authorities to contact Detective Dana DeWeese at 770-640-4100.
